work in progress: the masquerade of delusion

as soon as they board the ride, visitors on the attraction tour a sombre, dark masquerade inspired by the venetian masquerades and their baroque setting.

the entire ride is inspired by “mental delusion:” and the “fall” that results from the delusion, so it is figuratively a dark ride as well. the ride is dedicated to people who feel like they are trapped in nightmares at rock bottom; the ride, to me, is a reminder that one day I can cruise through its own unique beauty and rise up above all.

  1. the guests get a glimpse into the colours of delusion from a monochrome reality.
  2. the guests enter a sombre, haunting baroque ballroom where a venetian ball is occurring.
  3. on the moon boat that symbolises the fact that they are gliding through the nightmare in the very symbolisation of the night, they enter a grand entrance that builds up anticipation of more beauty.
  4. against the expectations, the guests free fall in the light and experience the start of the darkness lit by subtly light candles.

ucla thesis: one thousand and one nights

one thousand and one nights is an anthology of middle eastern tales more commonly known as the arabian nights. I am interested in portraying a fairy tale that appears happy at first glance, but is in reality unfortunate. The audience will be taken into a dynamic journey that spans across multiple tales with the royal blue colour of the king’s chamber seeping through her warm, fictional world.

now a postcolonial tale about the earlier americas by the french, this tempest portrays the tempest set in the bayous of new orleans.

Clara is a concept artist in themed entertainment, film, and television. inspired by the artistry of the powell & pressburger masterpiece <the red shoes>, she embarked on her journey into concept illustration at the age of 23. now, she highlights the importance of texture and mood in shaping the negative space of an environment. She believes that characters carry their own colors, and her role is to create a context that enriches their journey.

her journey reflects her dedication to visual storytelling and her commitment to narratives that seamlessly converge, like waves meeting the shore, shaping new landscapes with every crest and fall.
